NTA Reveals potential changes to NEET UG 2025 Exam pattern: Will it be Altered?

With NEET 2025 on the horizon, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Ministry of Education have introduced several updates and modifications to the exam pattern, syllabus, and eligibility criteria.

1. Changes in Exam pattern NEET 2025

Total Questions: The total number of questions has been revised to 180.

Section wise distribution:

• Physics – 45 questions
• Chemistry – 45 questions
•  Biology – 90 questions

Mark distribution:

•  The marking scheme remains the same (+4 for correct answers, -1 for incorrect answers, and 0 for un-attempted questions).

2. Mode of Examination NEET 2025

Candidates are hereby informed that NEET (UG) – 2025 will be Single day single exam in PEN and PAPER mode.

3. Duration of the Test

The duration of the test would be three (03) hours. Compensatory time of one hour for examination of three hours (03:00 hrs) duration for PwBD Candidate will be given, whether such candidate uses the facility of Scribe or not.

4. Eligibility criteria updates

The eligibility criteria for NEET 2025 have also seen some modifications:

• Age Limit: The upper age limit has been removed, allowing candidates of any age to appear for the exam.
• Qualifying Marks: The minimum qualifying marks for general category candidates have been revised to 50% (from 50th percentile), while for reserved categories, it remains 40%.
• Number of Attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts for NEET, giving students more opportunities to achieve their goals.

5. New guidelines for NRI candidate NEET 2025

Eligibility – NRI candidates must have completed their 10, +2 education from an Indian- recognized board or equivalent.
